PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide

PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide

I have to admit I wasn’t that excited about this product when I first heard about it.  A new formulation of two active ingredients we are already positioning with the different premixes we sell.  Another me too product is what I initially thought.   It wasn’t until after I asked a friend from Indiana what he was using for a soybean preemergence that Preview 2.1 grabbed my attention.  My friend really raved about this product, the job it was doing on thousands of acres in Indiana and the crop safety he witnessed first-hand.  He convinced me so much that we decided to trial this product in 2025.  Feedback from my grower trials this year have been very positive, so much so we will be positioning this product as one of our lead soybean preemergence herbicides in 2026.

So what is the big to do about PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide?  Preview 2.1 from UPL is premix of Metribuzin and Sulfentrazone.  The formulation ratio is 2 parts Metribuzin to 1 part Sulfentrazone.   What makes PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide different from Authority MTZ and other look alike products is the formulation.  This product is a patent-pending co-crystal formulation that delivers performance stability across a range of soil types and much improved crop safety.  Sulfentrazone and Metribuzin are two very good actives on waterhemp, but the knock on both of these products has been crop safety.  If you’ve used either one, you know what I’m talking about.  In cool, wet conditions we can see sulfentrazone and metribuzin damage.  Even though most of the time the damage is cosmetic, some growers still shy away from these two actives.  My opinion is we need both of them in our toolbox.  That’s why the improved crop safety of this formulation is so exciting.

As I already said, our trials of PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide were very positive.  One customers said his fields withPREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide were the cleanest he had this year.  The labeled rate is listed as 14-21 oz per acre in medium soils with 2% OM or less.  We ran PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide at 18oz per acre with 16 oz per acre of S-Metolachlor.  The addition of S-Metolachlor gives us another mode of action providing additional residual control of broadleaves and grasses.  South Dakota State University’s 2024 Weed Control Field Test Data included exceptional results with Preview 2.1 and S-Metolachlor.  I’ve attached a link to the study for review.  As you contemplate your soybean preemergence options, take a look at PREVIEW® 2.1 SC Herbicide from UPL.  Tech sheets, labels and sds sheets are on our site.  Thanks for reading our blog.
